Questions Part One – a typical lifestyle week (revisited)

Recently we returned to blogging with a short update, and are trying to commit to writing a little more frequently about this most wonderful lifestyle that we are privileged to enjoy. A few days ago we asked for any questions or suggestions for blog topics on our Twitter Feed (still not ready to call it “X”, however X-rated our activities and posts tend to be haha).

Thank you to all those who submitted suggestions, we thought we’d kick off with two that we received in a similar vein from Jim Slim and Jason S. Their questions relate to how we make our lifestyle work around normal everyday family commitments and ask how this potentially affects our husband and wife bond.

We’ve written previously about what a “typical” week for us looks like here, but it’s always fun to revisit, update and write a little more about how we work things into what we consider to be our normal life (or what may be perceived as the diametric opposite to normal in the eyes of the uninitiated!), as we know readers are genuinely interested.

The value of the blogging format is that it gives more scope to delve into things as opposed to our normal short but sweet Twitter posting, so let’s have a go! Whilst it wouldn’t make for a great blog post, we can summarise this in just four short words:

“It’s just normal life”

…it really is to us, and we’re fortunate to have made/fallen into a pattern that means the naughty activities that we enjoy fit seamlessly into our busy lives, whilst both holding down jobs and raising a young child; added to that, Hannah’s boyfriend L naturally works full time. In all honestly, we could quite easily fit more naughtiness into each week if we chose to do so.

By way of background, I (Chris) work a fairly standard 9-5 Monday to Friday job which is always “in office”; I never switch off because I’m passionate about my career, but in a really good way, and my work never interferes negatively with any aspect of our life. Hannah works four days a week on shorter hours and only has to actually go into work one or two days a week – one of those silver linings of the Covid pandemic was the opening up of more remote working, Hannah both adores this and is far more productive in the home office environment. On top of this, L works nightshifts 5 days a week on a semi-flexible basis, so he can chop and change his shifts within reason.

So, let’s delve into a typical week:

Monday – Hannah doesn’t work this day, so more often than not once getting our child off to school and doing home jobs, shopping etc. she will pop over to L’s house for some fun at around midday. She normally spends most of the day there until school pickup time (as per Monday), so the overnight date ends up representing a pretty solid block of 20+ hours of quality time together; many conventional married or dating couples spend less time than that in a usual week, so their together time isn’t too limited by our particular situation.
